Dancer/Choreographer/Percussionist
Pier Franco has been dancing since the age of 12. He started his dance career as a Ballroom dancer and competitor. In addition to the International Standard and Latin Dances, his dance background includes Brazilian Samba, Argentine Tango among various International Latin Dance styles. He traveled the world dancing, competing and winning many titles along the way including the Open Professional Brazilian Ballroom Championship. He is also a trained percussionist which includes instruments like the Drums, Bongos, Cajon, Castanets and Berimbau.
He also worked with famous groups such as The Gipsy Kings, Tango Mio and Olodum. Pier Franco eventually migrated to Flamenco and his Flamenco career took off when he began working with Gisela Sotomayor and her daughter Giselita from Gisela Sotomayor Flamenco Dance Company. Pier Franco eventually became a principal dancer with the Ballet Folklorico of Ybor City and the Oscar Trevino Flamenco Dance Company 1995-1997. He also danced full-time at the Columbia restaurant in Ybor City, FL in 2002-2003. Pier Franco is now the founder of Luces Flamencas. Pier Franco has spent the 8 months in London, England performing at two Flamenco tablaos, namely, Costa Dorada and Bar Andalucia, participating in the Flamenco Festival of London and filming a commercial for the BBC’s Strictly Dance Fever reality show with Graham Norton.
